How does Cerclepay relate to Stripe?

Cerclepay sits on top of Stripe (or Adyen, GoCardless, Mollie) as your billing brain. We orchestrate the membership lifecycle — plans, trials, dunning, retention — while your payment processor handles the card mechanics. You keep your existing processor relationship; we make it sing.

Can we migrate existing members?

Yes. We import members, subscriptions, payment methods (via secure tokenisation), and historical invoices from Stripe, Memberful, Patreon, MemberPress and Mollie. We run alongside your existing setup until you flip the switch — no double-billing, no lost members.

Does the platform handle EU VAT?

Yes. Cerclepay applies the right VAT for each member's country, validates VAT IDs for B2B, files OSS-ready reports, and produces tax invoices that meet EU requirements. We integrate with Quaderno and TaxJar for advanced tax setups.

How do free trials work?

Configure paid trials (€1 for 14 days), free trials with or without payment method, trial extensions, and trial-to-paid reminders — all in plain English in your dashboard, with localised messaging for each member's language.

What does “cancellation save flow” actually mean?

When a member clicks cancel, we route them through a configurable flow — exit reason survey, pause option, plan downgrade, time-bound discount, donation conversion — and only let them cancel if none of those work. Members keep on average 23% of cancellations from churning.

Is there a free trial?

We don't run a free trial. Solo starts at €29 a month and runs month-to-month with no commitment, so you can leave any time without a cancellation fee. Our team is happy to walk you through the platform on a 30-minute call before you sign up.

Where is the data stored?

EU customer data is stored in EU regions (Paris, Frankfurt). All payment data is tokenised — Cerclepay never sees or stores raw card numbers. We hold ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II certifications, and our DPA is signed at contract.

Can I export my data if I leave?

Of course. Export all members, subscriptions, payment metadata and historical events as CSV, JSON or a structured zip. We give you 90 days of free read-only access after contract end to support a smooth migration.
